Algemeen

Deze elektrisch-akoestische G5A gitaar van Sire, behorend tot de Larry Carlton gitaarreeks, biedt de klanken van een akoestische westerngitaar, maar met een speelgevoel dat meer vergelijkbaar is met dat van een elektrische gitaar. Dit komt voornamelijk door de constructie van de fijnere dunne thinline body en de gitaarhals, die zorgen voor een comfortabele speelervaring. Deze hals van mahonie ligt prettig in de hand en heeft een vertrouwd C-profiel. De palissander toets is afgerond volgens het speciaal ontwikkeld Edgeless proces om bij te dragen aan het behaaglijk speelgevoel van de gitaar

Larry Carlton G5A: rijke western-stijl klanken zonder feedback

Ondanks de plattere body levert het massief sparrenhouten bovenblad van deze gitaar die een iets minder luider versie van dat kenmerkende rijke western-stijl basisklank. De mahoniehouten achter- en zijkanten voegen een vleugje houtachtige warmte toe aan dit geluid. Mede dankzij het thinline ontwerp zonder klankgat ervaar je tijdens het versterken geen lastige feedback. Het piëzo-element vangt het geluid van de snaren op en stuurt dit door naar de speciaal ontwikkelde Vividx-A preamp, voorzien van een krachtige 3-bands EQ en handige fase-schakelaar.

Sire Larry Carlton G5A Natural Satin elektrisch-akoestische staalsnarige gitaar

Mijn eerste kennismaking met dit merk. Ik wilde een Godin die dit model lang geleden vermoedelijk uitvond. Maar ik probeerde deze en was meteen verkocht. Ik heb een uur op dat ding zitten spelen op een Fazley buizenversterker en klinken dat het deed. Zweet... Een week later kocht ik haar en heb door de diepe indruk die ze op me maakt nu onlangs ook de steel string versier hiervan gekocht. En pffff wat een gitaren zeg... Wauwie.

I really wanted to like this guitar. Everything about it seemed perfect on paper for me, and when I received it the guitar itself looked absolutely beautiful - evidently a quality instrument. However, I found myself quite disappointed by the sound. I tried it through three different high quality acoustic amps and had the same issue on all of them. The guitar sounded overly muddy and lacked definition between notes. I found myself perpetually adjusting the EQ sliders to try to establish clarity of tone and a good EQ balance but just wasn't able to. The notes, when played, sounded agricultural rather than vibrant. I was very disappointed and feel that Sire could have done so much more with this guitar. Maybe others will have a different experience keeping in mind that I am a fingerstyle player and this guitar might suit more traditional pick playing better.
