Audio Technica AT-OC9XML dual Moving Coil cartridge, naakte microline stylus
So many reviews for phono cartridges are full of jargon, and frankly, full of hyperbole. So I'll just use plain English...
I have had an Audio Technica AT-OC9ML/II for some time, and thought that was great, albeit with a low output, even though I had QUAD build me a phono input module sensitive for 0.4 mv.
Even though the AT-OC9XLM is also rated at 0.4 mv, the output is appreciably higher. And the quality of the sound? The clarity and stereo imaging is simply astonishing. Thanks to the microlinear stylus with 0.12 mm width, the noise level from the vinyl is very low or entirely absent, thank to its ability to reach the bottom the groove.
Tonearm is an SME M2-9.
