Algemeen
Hier is de DSM & Humboldt ClearComp 1078 compressor stompbox. Voor wanneer je een hoogwaardige compressiepedaal wil die naturel naar voren komt, je geluid nauwelijk tot niet kleurt, een groter dynamische bereik biedt en minder bijgeluiden heeft. Dit is namelijk een dynamic threshold comp met lager noise floor en een threshold met een vaste gain reductie. De treshold-schakelaar geeft je 3 standen, waardoor je dit gitaarpedaal kunt aanpassen op het uitgangsniveau van je elektrische gitaar of basgitaar. Door de duidelijk LED-weergave in verschillende kleuren kun je tijdens het spelen de envelope level van het effectpedaal uitstekend in de gaten houden. Natuurlijk zijn de bekende potmeters voor het compressie, release, ratio en attack aanwezig, maar met de blend kun je je eigen ideale mix-verhouding maken tussen je cleane bypass-geluid en het compressie effect.

Dit is een pedaalversie van een studio compressor, is dus wennen voor gitaristen die hiermee geen ervaring hebben. Werkt heel goed op gitaar, je kan chirurgisch tweaken en een perfect balans vinden tussen compressed en dry mix. Vaak lees ik dat bassisten ervaren dat het laag verdund wordt met deze Clearcomp, het is zo dat de klank helderder wordt door een hogere definitie in het klankbeeld (zeker op gitaar) waardoor het instrument meer in de mix uitstraalt. M.a.w. minder wollig (boomy) en veel meer detail. Dit vind ik persoonlijk heel fijn. Deze werd vergeleken met de Effectrode LA-1A die het iets beter doet maar is van vergelijkbare kwaliteit. Ook vergeleken met Mad Professor Forest Green en EQD Warden V2 die toch wel iets anders klinken maar vergelijkbaar zijn qua kwaliteit. Zeer goede compressor maar mss niet voor iedereen geschikt, daarom slechts 4 sterren!
