Supro 1310 Tremolo
Great tremolo pedal.
If you're in the market for harmonic tremolo, the Supro is a good alternative to the Walrus Audio Monument, and one that takes up a lot less space on your board. It lacks the Walrus' tap tempo though, but for me part of the charm of tremolo is when it doesn't sync with the tempo, so I won't miss that at all.
The gain knob is a very nice addition, it doesn't increase the volume much (the manual says it stays at unity, but in my experience it's a few dbs louder), but it colours the sound in a way reminiscent of an old Supro amp. So esp. for cleanish stuff I tend to leave the pedal on, set the modulation depth to 0 and use it the way you'd use an EP boost. It should be noted that even with the gain on 0 it colours your sound notably. It's not transparent at all, but that's the point.
There is an expression pedal input that allows you to control the speed. If you use it the Surpo's speed knob determines the max speed for the expression pedal.
Buy if:
- You need both amplitude and harmonic tremolo
- You want to add a bit of Supro color to your sound
- You don't have ton of pedalboard space.
Avoid if:
- You need tap tempo
- You want unusual waveforms (this pedal only gives you a sine-wave)
- You want a pedal that doesn't color your sound.
If you want the things in the avoid category, try the Walrus Audio Monument or the JHS Kodiak
