Shadow SH 145 Acoustic Active Humbucker Pickup Black voor akoestische gitaar
This is a great acoustic guitar pickup. It fits (sic) in the sound hole and can be moved to the players preference to obtain the tone you want. It is built like a tank and the volume control is a nice feature.
It comes with two leads, yes two leads, one already fitted to an endpin socket, ready to fit into a prepared hole in your guitar the other end plugs directly via a 3.5mm jack into the pickup, making it easy to fit. The other lead is fitted with a 3.5mm jack to fit into the pickup and a 1/4" jack to connect to an amp or mixing desk.
Now the reason for the (sic) earlier in my review. The pickup is designed to easily fit into the sound hole with two clamps which screw down to tighten it in place, mine was missing one of the clamps - where's quality control? - I contacted Bax who immediately said they would send a replacement (well done), only it would take at least three weeks!!! A replacement part was probably out of the question, but I was welcome to try to source myself. Now I needed this pickup for a series of gigs and couldn't wait so after sending an email to Shadow decided to fit using the clamp from a 13amp mains plug which did the job but I'm very disappointed paying good money to have to resort to such means.
One week later still waiting for a reply from Shadow (bad PR) but will persevere until either they or I give up and put it down to a lesson learnt.
To summarise - A great sounding easy to fit sound hole pickup let down by poor quality control by Shadow.
